On a somewhat wet Thursday in May we held our annual hanging basket workshop at Ashdown Park. Although wet and windy we were all snug and dry in the main glasshouse in the Walled Garden. We had 20 guests awaiting instruction on how to create a colourful basket or container for the summer months. After a demonstration and guidance on how we make up our own baskets, and some tips on how to keep them looking good over the coming months, it was time to make their own.
We had a great selection of containers, from an old wooden wine box to wire hay baskets and wicker baskets. The only things the guests had to bring were the container or baskets as we provide all the plans, compost, feed tabs and wetting agent.
The end result was a range of very colourful containers and baskets. Afterwards it was time to head back to the main hotel and get comfortable for a full (and delicious) Afternoon Tea in one of our lounges where we chatted and enjoyed a relaxing afternoon.
The event is proving so popular that we are planning to hold two hanging basket workshops next year. Our events list for early next year will be out within the next couple of months so I recommend you book as soon as possible as it always sells out!
On 26th November we will be holding our Christmas Table Decoration Workshop followed by Afternoon Tea. This was great fun last year!
