Ashdown Park's beauty therapist, 20 year old Kaiya Swain, is heading for great things after gaining first place in the Beauty and Complimentary Therapy WorldSkills regional heats, and finding out she was one of the top 10 highest scorers from the UK. Kaiya has now been shortlisted to attend the World finals in Abu Dhabi in 2017, but needs to compete for one of five places in the UK squad, by competing in the national finals at the NEC in Birmingham this week.
Kaiya trained in beauty therapy at Sussex Downs College in Lewes, East Sussex and worked for a medical group before joining Ashdown Park nearly three months ago.
Kaiya says:
"I'm very excited to be competing in the Beauty and Complimentary Therapy Worldskills competition. If I successfully get into the UK squad then I have the possibility of being selected for Team GB for Beauty Therapy. UK/WorldSkills are like the Olympics but for trade. It gives people the chance to shine in their chosed field and be commended for their hard work. It enhances your skills and makes you want to do and be better! I have to perform four different treatments at the NEC in Birmingham, these are: French Manicure with nail art on the ring finger, Fantasy Make-up (Far East theme), Full Body Massage with a back cleanse and a Galvanic Facial."
We all wish Kaiya the very best of luck this week!
